Lesson 9 (11/03/08)
And the last post about english lessons…. definitely the last one
Today we saw the poster made by the others students… they had to choose a scientific subject and to make a poster with enough informations on it but not too much. In this way we had to ask them some questions. There were many interresting subjects such as:
– How to describe matter using different approach –
they described the mecanism of different devices:
optical microscope
Electronical microscope
Scanning tunnelling microscope
Atomic Force Microscope
VERY VERY INTERESTING!!!!
– Behaviour of a complex fluid –
This poster was dealing with how to describe the behaviour of fluid which made of many microscopics particles. for example: the blood.
There was also a presentation of a program which has been made by student in order to simulate the behaviour of such a fluid into a tube.
this was very interesting and well explained. APPLAUSE: this subject was very hard to present with few information becaude of the complexity of the physical phenomenon.
– Auditive Perception –
This poster presented how the human ear feels the external sounds: the anatomic construction of a ear and the intensity of the sound perceived versus the frequency of the sound. It shows that the human ear is more sensitive to some frequencies than other. It was a great pleasure to speak with Benjamin because he perfectly knew his subject and was able to give an explanation at every questions i had for him.
Another subject which i found particulary amazing was:
– The Jellett Egg –
The goal of this poster was to explain the behaviour of an egg when it is raw or cooked. In fact this problem is well known as “the rising egg”. I’ll not explain this phenomenon here but you can find many interresting articles on the web.
I personnally think that it was the most original poster.
