As you guess… i’m back

So today is the blog day… actually this is the day when our teacher propsed to us to write a blog instead of writing a logbook. We spent most of the time creating our account on edublog and started writing few pages. We also studied a little bit of vocabulary discovering many idioms and collocations. I will not rewrite all the page but just give the most important parts of this work:

I think that the first part is really important to understand why frenchies have a lot of problems with english idioms. We try most of the time to translate french expressions word by word and the result is a big disaster. So i’ll just give different expressions and its translations:

be like a cat on a hot tin roof: to be nervous and unable to keep still: = Ne pas tenir en place

raining cats and dog : to be raining in great amounts: = Il pleut des cordes

cat got your tongue: to be unable to speak = Avoir avalé sa langue

nerves of steel: to be very brave = Avoir des nerfs d’acier (in this case the french idiom is the exact translation of the english one)

Cheers!!! = when you drink with someone or to thenk somebody = Santé / merci bien
