Lesson 3 (28/01/2008)

Hello!!…

and here is a new lesson

Today our teacher show us a video about Feynman’s Life. The goal was to take notes using a technique which allows us to find quickly important information. To do this we just draw two lines on a sheet of paper : one on the left hand side (about 6”) and another one perpendicular to the first at the bottom of the page. All the square between the two lines is used to write the notes we take. The left hand side space is used to write keywords and the free space down the page is used to write a short summary.

We saw the movie and then we had to find ten keywords which are the most representative of the video’s content. After that we made smalls groups of 4 people and discussed about our keywords and about the video.

At the end our teacher wrote questions on the blackboard and we had to answer them. It’s at this moment we have seen if the essential of the film was in our notes or not.

Here are the questions:

-What was the name of the project which took place in Los Alamos?

-Why did he (Feynman) get married in 1941?

-When the war was ended what does Feynman say was the reason he continued trying to make bigger bomb?

-What agreement did he make with his artist friend?

-How long did it hold?

-What did he think about the bomb one day in NY?

-Who explained the principles of wave and radiation in 1928?

-What did Feynman add to their theory?

-How were electrons and positrons represented?

-Freeman Dyson said that the “greatest physicist of the time needed convaincing that Feynman’s work was valid”. Who was that?

-What happened between Faynman and the National Academy of Science?
